You buried the sink factory, the fake ID, and the room you weren’t supposed to enter, and what gives you away years later is knowing exactly how to scrape powder with a credit card. The hands remember what the memoir edits out. This was a joy to read — funny in the way that only works when the person telling it clearly made it out the other side.

I too, appreciate that calm moment that follows a sudden, impossibly messy spill.

"Well, that escalated quickly." Can this even be cleaned or is arson the better decision?

As for white powder, I used to be a professional (got paid minimum wage) donut baker.

"Stop to smell the flours" is overrated.

Serendipitously, I had just posted a note about jelly donuts before reading this.

Cue the spooky music.
